Help us continue our restorative work

With your help we will train as many willing organisations in the Western Indian Ocean as possible, along with expanding the amount of builds per year. Using this method we can transform heavily degraded rubble fields into healthy coral-dominated ecosystems within a few years.

Impact 2023 - 2024

We work with our local communities and implement successfully tried and tested, scientifically proven restoration methods on our degraded reefs. To achieve the scale of restoration our vital coral reefs need, we are training restoration practitioners around the world in order to build a global network of reef builders.

THE APPROACH

Step 1

Selecting the site

Choosing the right site, in the right environment is imperative to the success of the restoration.

Step 2

Social and Government

It is very important to understand the key requirements to undertake restoration from the government and social perspective.

Step 3

Planning

Planning the logistics needs to be carefully thought out, as well as undertaking pre-build surveys of the site.

Step 4

Reef Star Production

Sourcing and producing reef stars using steel, resin and sand.

Step 5

Coral Sourcing

Sourcing the correct species of coral to then attach to the reef stars.

Step 6

The Build

The hard work continues! Safely and effectively securing the reef stars on the sea bed.

Step 7

Monitoring

Regular monitoring of coral growth and water temperatures.

Step 8

Maintenance

Ensuring the reef stars remain in the best condition possible for success.
